howard roark

I’m about half-way through The Fountainhead and while I’m not supposed to like it (Dirty Dancing says so), I really do.

I like Roark’s character. The fact that he lets his work speak for himself and he doesn’t buy into lip service or creature comforts. I like his briskness.

I also appreciate that he does what he wants, whether it’s building something or breaking something apart, Roark is a man who works with his hands. He is a character of movement and simple complexity.

Now, I can’t say how I’m going to like the story at it’s end but at present I’m a fan.
