Winter is a challenging time for anyone who likes being out and about in the world. For me, it’s really challenged my devotion to running as it just requires so much more gear as well as my ability to find balance in my life.
I’m so thankful that my personal life has had me in a state of happy delerium, I’m really astronomically lucky. So on this Sunday, that’s keeping me inside because of the rain and the wind and the chill, I’m enjoying my sweatpants, sipping tea and exploring the world of Audible.com. Dan Savage has been touting it for years as they sponsor his podcast, and in theory, I should be all over this. I think my recent love of NPR has proved that I like having talking going on in my space and I think some books I’ll like better read aloud to me.
Perhaps it was growing up with my mom reading to my sister and I that makes me feel particularly grounded and calm when things are read aloud to me. Louie is certainly for it as he’s curled up atop his favorite armchair (you can tell by the snags in the fabric). So I’m swinging back and forth between old favorites, new ventures and books I’ve been meaning to read for years.
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
