An excerpt from one of my favorite movies, Happy. If you haven’t seen it, DO. The premise is a little hokey but I promise you, once you get past that, you’ll fall in love too.
In January, I started a gratitude journal. Also hokey. Okay, I get it. But the simple practice of writing down what I’m grateful and thankful for every single day hasn’t made me happier. But it has made me appreciate the moments during my day that I’m glad I’m alive to witness.
Today it was the gorgeous sunshine, my best friends in one day, discovering new koi ponds, frozen yogurt, nature, deep breaths and Louie. AND this moneyquote from a total stranger on the street: “Tell your boyfriend or your husband he’s a very lucky man… Ohhhh yeah!”
And those little things do wonders to counterbalance all the things that challenge me during the day — the doubts I have and the fears I have — it’s appreciating these things and the people in my life that get me though the tricky, sticky, stumbling parts of the day.
Tomorrow, the list will be different because tomorrow is a different day. So, let’s see what happens!
