Rock, Paper, Scissors

Screen Shot 2014-06-16 at 9.31.02 PMLast night’s exercise in Codecademy’s Javascript class required some serious brainpower. It’s invigorating to actually feel my brain working in different ways and doing some mental push-ups.

I felt pretty unstoppable last week after I managed to successfully code a simple function to tell me how much I’m about to pay for oranges. I made the mistake of not doing anything beyond this for 2 days — hey, I had a wedding to go to.

While it was frustrating to muscle through all the vars and if else’s of rock, paper, scissors, it felt really good when I finally got it. Then, something even weirder happened — I had follow-up questions!

It’s really powerful to understand a new language and then ask what else you can do with it. Needless to say, I’m really looking forward to tonight’s session.
